A Home in Song/light

Stroked by moonlight, promises of spring. A monstrous emotion found a home in song. In a presentation so simple there’s not even fancy napkins at the table. Within it we can explore what it means to be human in a changing world. What it means to confront desire. And to love whole-heartedly. To speak your truth and swallow it whole. Expecting nothing in return. Going back to the same places of the unknown spaces. Echoing gently in the soul. Reverberating grief and sickness and pain and other imprints. Memory, perhaps. And a surprise twist of empathy rocks us to the bone. The shell being tempted to give in. The spaces of darkness. Explore it like a womb.

This is where the tour guide abandons you and you have to find your own shelter. Shelter in song. A habitat for your humanity. A place to rest inside. And the things that make you brave don’t need to be there anymore. You’ve outgrown them.

The light seeps in anywhere we’ll let it. It rises to any occasion. It coaxes us from slumber, from darkness or illusion and sends us up toward angel territory. Try and capture it and it seems beholden to someone else.
